Ballpoint Drawing

This is a ball point drawing of the Chilean poet Raúl Zurita, based on  photo of a magazine.

The drawing was done with the Sheaffer pen on the photo, hope it has archive quality, if not it will fade out with light.

War Child Number 3

I finished the third artwork of my series War Children. I was planning to make an oil painting, but after I published the sketch on Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/jdpaint, my friends convinced me that it should be left as a drawing (really a mix between drawing and etching).

It depicts a boy from Uganda on a backround of European and American newspapers and prints on the concerns parants should have about their children in the western world.

The Colombian girl is progressing, but not as fast as I would like since my time is being consummed by a commissioning painting in pastel.

Tuesday, April 23, 2013

The award I won was for the first two works of a series I planned on children involved in war. The past weekend I was continuing working on this series, now trying to use pastel on a girl from the Colombian FARC.

I was not happy with the results, but I was a little tired to continue struggling with the pastels so I took a break and made an Indian ink drawing with quill. It was years since my last drawing with Indian Ink! I still like it very much, however I should be very careful to control my hand and the flow of ink.
The model was a WWII reenactor whose photo I found in the Internet.
